A few days prior to the 2011 Royal Welsh Show it was with great sadness that Nebo Bouncer had to be put to sleep at the age of thirty.

In 1981 Nebo Shani Lwyd produced a smart bay colt, full of pony character, yet with plenty of substance and four even white socks by the legendary Nebo Brenin. Unfortunately Bouncer lost his mother at the very young age of 6 weeks, cheeky and inquisitive as he was from the beginning of his life through until the end, when his mother died he managed to pinch enough milk from other mares whilst their foals would be suckling, but by then end of September Bouncer wasn’t looking so well so he was brought in and he never looked back, By the Spring he had developed into a smart yearling and on Easter Monday he travelled to his first show which he won and was reserve champion.

We wont mention all his wins or the journal would be full, but over the years he has given us enormous pleasure in the show ring to mention just a few of his most prestigious wins he has been Champion at Lampeter Stallion Show five times, winning his first Champion there as a three year old, in those days there was no separate 3yr old class, they competed with the stallions, he was also crowned supreme of show.

He has won at the Royal Welsh on Seven Occasions bringing five gold medals home and the Chetwynd Perpetual Trophy for the Supreme Welsh Pony of Cob Type on four occasions, In 1988 he won the Tom and Sprightly, the Supreme Champion of Show and represented the Royal Welsh at the Lloyds Bank In-Hand Final at the Horse of The Year Show.

He claimed the Royal of England Championship four times and was honoured Supreme Pony Champion on one of the occasions. He was also champion at Glanusk Welsh Stallion show on numerous occasions claiming the supreme title; other major champion’s include the Great Yorkshire, Kent County, NPS, Pembroke County, Anglesey County and United Counties where he was also supreme on numerous occasions.

Bouncer was not only a showman, but also a tremendous producer of stock, he was in the sire-rating charts since the early age of four and stole the title for the first time in 1990 from his sire who had won eight years in a row. Bouncer repeated the achievement a further twelve times. He has produced fifteen Royal Welsh winners eight of which are Royal Welsh gold medallists namely Hengwys Tywysog, Tremymor Sportsman, Tyngwndwn Daylight, Tyngwndwn Moonlady, Yarty Royal Bonus, Glanteifi Morgan Jones, Nebo Bouncing Rocket, and Bryncarreg Lightning Jack.

The stallion class at the 2008 Lampeter Stallion Show was a sight worth seeing the first three stallions were all sired by Bouncer: Bryncarreg lightning Jack who went on to be supreme of show. Llanwenarth Flash Jack and Glanteifi Morgan Jones.

Bouncer was an unique pony that brought us tremendous pleasure and will be totally un-replaceable, you could not but like him; he was a character, the right look at me attitude for the show ring, he would always give a good show and loved atmospheric surroundings, he has also given us immense pleasure through the fantastic offspring's he has produced for us and others, Bouncer will never be forgotten at Nebo or Tyngwndwn and will be definitely remembered as a true legend of a lifetime.

During the 2012 Welsh Pony and Cob Society AGM, Bouncer was awarded with the Miss Brodrick award. This is awarded annually in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Welsh Pony and Cob Society. We as a family were overwhelmed by Councils decision, and accepted the award as one of the highest possible accolades within our society.
